A central Lisbon stay where an unbeatable location and a room overlooking the Arco da Rua Augusta became exactly what I needed for one final night in the city

My stay at Pestana Rua Augusta was extremely short. I checked in during the afternoon and was heading to the airport before sunrise the following morning, so this isn't one of those hotel reviews where I can tell you everything about the property.

What I can tell you is that for a quick stay in Lisbon, the location was hard to beat.

My room overlooked the Arco da Rua Augusta, I could walk out of the hotel and immediately be in the middle of central Lisbon, and for my final night in Portugal, that convenience was exactly what I needed.

Inside my stay

Less than a day, but one very memorable view.

I checked in around 3 p.m., left again within a couple of hours, returned briefly before dinner, went back out for the night, and didn't return until around 3 a.m. By approximately 5 a.m., I was leaving for the airport.

So no, I didn't exactly settle in.

But the room gave me one thing I absolutely remember: the view.

Looking out toward the Arco da Rua Augusta made the location feel unmistakably Lisbon, and for such a short final stay, I appreciated being somewhere that immediately put the city outside my window.

The Neighborhood

When you don't have much time, location matters even more.

Pestana Rua Augusta sits in the heart of Baixa, placing you within walking distance of Praça do Comércio, the Arco da Rua Augusta, restaurants, shopping, and many of central Lisbon's most recognizable streets.

For me, that was probably the hotel's biggest advantage. I wasn't spending my final evening commuting across Lisbon. I could check in, drop my things, and get back out into the city.

Honest verdict

What to Know Before Booking

I wouldn't pretend my short stay gave me enough time to fully review every aspect of Pestana Rua Augusta. I barely used the property's amenities and didn't spend meaningful time at its restaurant or bar.

But I would stay here again, particularly for a short Lisbon trip where location was one of my biggest priorities.

The combination of being directly in Baixa and having that view from my room made even a very brief stay memorable.
