I spent a few nights in the mountains of Sa Pa, Vietnam and decided to try three different hotels — each offering a completely different version of the soft life, from dramatic luxury interiors to quiet mountain views.
If you’re planning a trip to Sa Pa and wondering where to stay, here’s a look at the three hotels I experienced and what each one was like.
During my 24-day solo trip through Vietnam, Sa Pa ended up being one of the most peaceful and visually stunning stops along the journey.
Hotel de la Coupole
Soft Life Luxury in Sa Pa
If your version of a soft life includes dramatic interiors, a glass of champagne, and a pool that feels like it belongs in a movie set, Hotel de la Coupole – MGallery might be your kind of stay.
Tucked into the mountains of Sapa, the hotel feels like a mix of French couture fantasy and mountain escape. It’s bold, colorful, and a little over-the-top in the best possible way - the kind of place where even walking through the lobby feels like part of the experience.

The indoor pool is one of the highlights of the hotel — dramatic lighting, deep emerald tiles, and a space that feels more like a fashion editorial than a typical mountain hotel. And the best part ... it's heated!

This is the kind of hotel where you can slow down for a bit — lounge by the pool, order a drink, and enjoy the moment instead of rushing from one activity to the next.

The bar area is another beautiful space inside the hotel and the perfect spot to unwind after a long day exploring Sa Pa.
A Quick Soft Life Tour
Staying at Hotel de la Coupole felt like stepping into a completely different world — bold interiors, beautiful spaces, and just enough luxury to make the stay feel special.
If you enjoy hotels where the design and atmosphere are part of the experience, this is definitely one of the more memorable soft life stays in Sa Pa.
Best For
• soft life luxury lovers
• travelers staying in Sa Pa town
• anyone who appreciates dramatic hotel design
Soft Life Rating:
10/10 interiors, dramatic design, and poolside moments.
Sa Pa Jade Hill Resort & Spa
Soft Life Luxury in the Mountains
After the bold, dramatic energy of Hotel de la Coupole, Sa Pa Jade Hill felt like stepping into a completely different kind of soft life.
Instead of being in the center of town, Jade Hill sits quietly on the mountainside with cottages and balconies overlooking the valley. It’s the kind of place where the mornings feel slow, the air feels fresh, and the views make you pause for a minute before doing anything else.

One of the best parts of staying here was waking up to the mountain views. Depending on the morning, you might see rolling clouds moving through the valley or clear views of the terraced hills.

If you’re someone who enjoys slow travel, this is the kind of place where you can sit outside with a coffee and just take in the scenery for a while.

Because the hotel sits slightly outside the busy center of town, the atmosphere feels quieter and more relaxed.
A Quick Soft Life Tour
Compared to the other hotels I stayed in while visiting Sa Pa, Sa Pa Jade Hill felt the most peaceful. If your idea of travel includes quiet mornings, mountain views, and a slower pace, this is the kind of stay that really lets you settle into the landscape.
Best For
• travelers who want mountain views
• quiet, slower-paced stays
• soft life mornings with coffee and fresh air
Soft Life Rating:
9/10 peaceful mountain views, quiet mornings, and slow travel energy.
Viettrekking SaPa
Soft Life Luxury with Mountain Views
If there’s one thing Viettrekking Hotel is known for in Sa Pa, it’s the view.
Perched on the mountainside overlooking the valley, the hotel feels like a front-row seat to one of the most beautiful landscapes in northern Vietnam. Between the infinity pool, the terrace, and the open mountain views, this is the kind of place where the scenery becomes the main event.

This is the kind of place where it’s worth waking up a little earlier just to watch the clouds move across the hills.

One of the most memorable parts of staying here is simply looking out over the mountains from every corner of my room. Depending on the weather, the landscape shifts throughout the day - sometimes clear, sometimes covered in rolling clouds.
A Quick Soft Life Tour
Compared to the other hotels I stayed at in Sa Pa, Viettrekking SaPa stood out the most for the scenery. If you’re the type of traveler who loves mountain views, sunrise moments, and a setting that feels connected to nature, this is one of the most unforgettable places to stay.
Best For
• travelers who want mountain views
• sunrise and sunset lovers
• photographers and nature lovers
Soft Life Rating:
10/10 views, sunrise moments, and mountain scenery.
Final Thoughts
Sa Pa ended up being one of the most memorable stops during my 24-day solo trip through Vietnam. The mountain air, slower pace, and incredible landscapes made it the perfect place to lean into a softer rhythm of travel.
What made the experience even better was staying in three very different hotels, each offering its own version of the soft life in the mountains.
Hotel de la Coupole stood out for its dramatic design and luxurious atmosphere, Sa Pa Jade Hill offered a peaceful mountain escape, and Viettrekking delivered some of the most beautiful views of the trip.
